PE vs consulting exit opps

Have accepted a MF offer but having second thoughts.

Exit opps to corporate from PE, according to a different thread are essentially manager and maybe director after the associate stint (around 4YOE). In consulting, after 4YOE I’ll be an EM which translates to Director. After 6YOE, I’ll be AP which translates to VP.

This feels strange given PE is clearly a more involved job than consulting.

I’m fairly certain I will not want to grind up to VP at the MF and will probably exit to corporate. If this is the case, surely staying in consulting is better when I’m optimising for long term wealth (millions in a decade > a few hundred K today)?
