PE/IB/M&A Analysts: ‘how’ skillful are you (or do you have to be) with Excel in order to excel in the role?
Specific competencies I'm assuming are required:
Speed & Statement knowledge: produce a 3-statement LBO model without use of a guide with 90% by keyboard shortcuts and in a short period of time.
Formula knowledge: all the basics in a 3-statement, logical functions (if, ifs, sumifs, and, or), search functions, VBA, macros, python…? You aren't expected to be data scientists…. Right?
Plus, minus, times and divide. Sometimes I even get those wrong.
