Positioning yourself with headhunters for niche private equity roles
I'm applying for a niche space within PE. I currently have a headhunter repping me for a firm that does what I want, but she doesn't know about my longstanding passion/interest in the space. Should I call her cell and tell her, or shoot her an email with a few bullet points on why that's my dream job and would accept on the spot, no hesitation, if given an offer, or something else?
Thanks,
CTG

It would be proper to email first.
Yes, perhaps not saying exactly that you would accept on the spot...
But for a headhunter, who in my experience have most of the time a limited understanding of the investment world, a brief email which states clearly what you are targeting would make easier for her to sell you to the client.
Got it. So, thinking something like hello, I’ve always been interested in this space, X is my top choice, and here are three points about fit/long-standing interest: 1,2,3. Thanks, CTG.
What do you think?
It's not clear to me what's exactly the situation. It looks like you are already in touch with this HH and know (because it's on their website, perhaps?) they've been hired by a PE shop you'd like to work at but you have never shared with the HH your interest for this specific niche space.
Generally speaking, I would drop a line saying that you've seen that they are working on that search and you are extremely interested in as proven by [insert here a coincise and effective description of your interest and what you have done/do that gives you a solid understanding of the niche space].
