Post case HR feedback

Recently interviewed with a PE fund. Did 2 rounds before case and then another with a higher up. Supposedly feedback on case was great as I found out in the latter interview so it focused mostly on fit. Followed up with HR a few days later and was told that “they’re still going through the interview process and will know more about next steps later this week” however later that day HR followed up asking for transcripts.

Should I assume it’s a no given feedback from HR? Have heard back very quick for other interview rounds. Not sure why HR would ask for my docs after giving me that response either. Only next step in the process is to meet the rest of the team.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for HR to request additional documents, such as transcripts, even after providing a somewhat vague update on the process. This could indicate that you're still under consideration, especially since the next step involves meeting the rest of the team. The request for transcripts might be a procedural step or a final check before moving forward.

However, the delay in communication and the phrasing of HR's initial response ("still going through the interview process") could also suggest that the decision-making process is still ongoing or that they are evaluating other candidates alongside you. It's worth noting that PE recruiting can be highly subjective, and timelines often vary depending on the fund's internal processes.

To manage expectations: 1. Stay optimistic but realistic—HR's request for transcripts is a positive sign, but it doesn't guarantee an offer. 2. Continue following up professionally if you don't hear back within the stated timeline. 3. Keep exploring other opportunities to maintain momentum in your recruiting process.

Ultimately, the situation isn't a clear "no," and the transcript request suggests you're still in the running. Stay patient and prepared for the next steps.

it's probably a good sign, they wouldn't ask if you were dinged. this is key decision juncture so makes sense they want to wait until other candidates have been interviewed as many times as you

wager you're getting it

Not sure why you'd think it was a negative... These things do take time especially if they're finishing up interviews with other candidates to narrow down the selection for the final round. They wouldn't ask for your transcripts if they already knew you were out of the process they would've just ghosted. Also have to realize how busy the team probably is and it takes time to organize a plan for a superday with people traveling so much.
