Post-MBA IB associate to PE?? Is it possible?
Hey, I’ve read everywhere that PE takes IB analysts with approx 1-2 years experience. My goal is IB after my MBA (I’m a career switcher so no previous IB experience).
Assuming I land a job as an associate after I graduate, what is the route to PE? Is there? What do most Post-MBA IB associates end up doing if they don’t stay in banking?
I appreciate the insight!
This has been answered a million times on here. Post-MBA PE with no experience is extremely rare. Not saying it doesn’t ever happen, but you shouldn’t count on it. Most associates that leave end up lateraling to another bank or work in corp dev (sometimes FP&A).
Thanks for the reply. How about exiting to VC?
VC is my end goal. Is there a specific team I should target to join at my first bank to best position myself for VC? Is there a certain amount of years I should stay before I leave?
Not possible
