Post-MBA UMM/MF PE with Pre-MBA IB at GS/MS Possible?

Currently an analyst at a top group at GS/MS (TMT/M&A) and in the 2+2 deferred program for HBS/GSB. The reason I did deferred was to hopefully launch my own startup after my MBA and skip the traditional 2 years in PE but part of me feels like if my startup fails during my MBA, not having PE experience before I matriculate will hinder my ability to recruit for PE after my MBA.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I defer another 2 years and recruit for MF PE?

I strongly advise you defer. Going to HBS/GSB after 2 years will put you at a disadvantage in terms of recruiting for most jobs because you'll be competing against your HBS/GSB classmates, most of whom will have 2-3x your experience. Not to mention it effectively closes the door on PE to your forever (yes it is still POSSIBLE to get into PE post-MBA but very, very unlikely). I would do the very classic 2 years IB, 2 years PE, and then go to school.
