Private Company Transaction Multiples

I am researching transaction comps for a private company and I can find the transactions but the purchase multiples aren’t disclosed on PB or CapIQ; where else can I look? Assuming the information isn’t available, would the only other way to get the data be to call the buyer/seller (if they’re another PE - understand that’s not likely) or reach out to an IB?

It's rare to find the multiples just floating around, even after googling through it. You're going to want to do the usual (check pitchbook, capIQ, etc.) and then you can also look for industry reports/IB reports by using the "Filetype:pdf "[your subject here]" search phrases to look for reports that may have information. Banks will also have the information at times, but I typically tend to go to them last.

Remember, always be kind-hearted.

Thank you, this helps. We’ve been provided a deck that includes 10+ transaction comps from another PE firm looking to exit. We are reviewing and part of that process is working to verify that the multiples they provided are accurate/legitimate (given they aren’t on CapIQ or PB) along with determining if they’re outlier transactions or an indication of the market.

I assume you've also pulled public comps, correct? Those can help you verify the ranges of the multiples.
