Promoted to Associate after 2 years

I’ve been promoted to Associate after 2 years at my company (alts asset manager), as per the standard promotion path.

I’m currently recruiting and most companies have a 3 year Analyst program, only a handful are interviewing me for Associate roles.

Would it look bad on a CV to go back to Analyst from an Associate title?

I think it'd be useful to first clarify why you're looking to leave i.e. what about your firm aren't you happy with or believe another firm could better provide? Deal flow, comp, hours, better team-mates, stronger brand, different exposure? Easier to provide thoughts with a bit more context.

It would look somewhat bad if you tried to leave that firm immediately, but if you did a few years at this company it wouldn't matter at all

Have to consider the overall trajectory here - you're at a very small shop, will this be one of your only opportunities to move up? How badly do you want to move now? What is the difference in comp (adjusting for change of role)? Title isn't everything, look at it with consideration of all of the factors.
