Reaching out to firms directly
Suppose you're not receiving enough attention from headhunters, and when you do, the firms they represent don't align with your interests. Curious to see if it is possible getting interviews by reaching out directly to people at the firm (VPs and up). For the context interested in MM funds.

I’d have assumed it’s better to reach out to juniors since they are more likely to take the call and reach for the recruiting bonus
As a current associate at a MM that gets tons of inbounds from candidates - I'm always happy to take the call but in no way does a recruiting bonus factor into me helping someone. I'm someone that's willing to pass on a resume or profile to our recruiting team but I wouldn't ever personally recommend to make sure someone gets an interview unless I've worked with them or someone I know well at their bank vouches for them. I've seen too many instances of absolute duds coming in from even good banks to want to put my neck on the line with my current team. Just my 2c. I'm sure more senior people think a lot differently.
