Reference Check After Final Round?

Just finished a process on Friday for a buyside opportunity that I’m genuinely excited for and really want. Interview wise, I think I performed well and got along with my interviewers.

After Friday’s last round, I received an email today asking for references as the next step in the process. I provided some very strong references and feel good about their potential feedback. Is a reference check after a final round, a good thing? Does this mean I might get an offer? I’m trying to not get my hopes up but curious on what it normally means
