I work in strategic finance for a pre-IPO tech company which is the more common exit out of IB/PE - although these roles are very competitive and in high demand
Hours are much more manageable - I usually do 50-60 a week and up to 80-100 if there’s an active project or upcoming deal.
IB/PE prepares you somewhat for these roles but there is still a learning curve coming from m&a to an operating role
Did you come from banking? If so, at what level did you leave / join into?
Left FT IB analyst role at a BB 1-2 months in - got poached by my current company where I started as an associate. Probably (fingers crossed) going to make manager by the end of my first year
