Rothschild Merchant Banking (Five Arrows PI)

Any thoughts on MB at Rothschild?
I am asking about Europe..

Also, I heard that Rothschild has some old school type of MB practice. Any insight on this?
Is the group comparable to GS MB in any way? Any help with why Rothschild MB vs some BB MB?
How about prestige difference in Europe between their MB and GFA groups?

Insights on pay, exit opps, etc. would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

p.s. mods put me in which ever forum you find appropriate... was not sure what to do, i guess pe is ok

Focus on midcap. future boss of the bank is in the team (alexandre de...) Pay is pretty bad for a PE shop in Europe (in line with IB basically) Hours are better than in banks but my understanding is the head of the London office is former BX and pretty intense on teams during deals. Structure is split 50-50 between Paris and London. Not really comparable to GS PIA given size of team, funds under management, scope or history.

M&A is why Rothschild is famous in Europe not PE. Still very good old school brand name in Europe.
