Seeking Advice on Transitioning to Private Equity at 40
Hi Guys
Would need advice on possible moving to Private Equity. I am 40 trained as an engineer, last year sold business ( not big exit) and moved back to Canada.
I joined a small VC fund and helped get deals and raise funds and understood how this industry operates, unless one is in top VC firm the returns doesnt make sense for low tier firms. I started reading about evergreen PE funds like Constellation and Valsoft and growth like Lead edge capital and I think I can provide value in terms of deal sourcing, operational efficiency of portcos. I think as there are many baby boomers retiring and some heirs not interested in taking over, there are are lots of interesting businesses to be acquired and grown.
Here are some of the steps I am taking to possibly break into PE world
-Message professionals in Linkedin for info interview.
- Maybe get an EMBA
What possible roles would I bring value to PE?
What steps do I take to break into either evergreen or growth PE world?
Your advice would be appreciated.
