Small-Cap PE Analyst vs MM IB

Hi,

what do you guys think about an analyst position at a smallcap PE firm (MM IB Background (think Lincoln, Raymond James, Harris Williams) and some guys with a more operational approach.

If my long-term goal is PE does it make more sense to start as an analyst in a MM IB Firm (like Stifel) or should I better go with a PE offer?
