Staffed to PortCo Sale?

I've been fully staffed to the sale of my PortCo responsibility for the past 2 months, and probably have another 2 to go. Is this normal for a 1/2 year associate at a $1B fund? We have a well-known IB working for us, but don't really trust their work and seem to want to be involved in every single data request shared with buyers.

I'm curious if this level of involvement is 'normal'. I didn't sign up thinking I would spend this much time on portfolio work, and because I haven't gotten a deal done, a bit worried about spending time doing this over new deal work...

It really depends on the firm - but yeah, doesn’t seem strange.

You have to remember that the person who cares most about your career is you. So if you’re not getting enough real deal reps - try to do something about it. At the end of the day though particularly for associates on 2 year programs, it’s a bit luck of the draw / out of your control especially in the current economic climate which has most firms somewhat risk off.
