Starting a PE focused advisory (help source targets for funds that focus on middle market

Currently I work for an advisory that is serving strategic investors more than PE funds, in my view it is much easier to serve PE for obvious reasons (they acquire all the time etc.). Question for people in these PE funds, how useful do you find these services?

Ah, swinging from the strategic vines to the PE jungle, are we? Here's the scoop based on the WSO content:

  1. Usefulness of Advisory Services for PE Funds:
    • PE funds, especially in the middle market, can indeed find advisory services quite useful. These services help them identify and source potential investment targets, which is a critical part of their business model since they're always on the prowl for good acquisitions.
    • Advisors who have a deep understanding of specific industries can provide valuable insights and bring forward companies that align with the PE fund's investment strategy and criteria.
    • Moreover, a good advisory firm can assist with due diligence, providing an extra layer of scrutiny which is particularly beneficial for middle market funds that may have leaner teams and resources compared to their mega-fund counterparts.

Remember, while PE funds are acquisition-hungry creatures, they're also looking for quality over quantity. They value advisors who can not only bring them deals but also help them navigate through the complexities of each transaction. So if you're planning to swing into this space, make sure you're ready to bring some serious value to the table!
