Free PE recruiting guides on PEPath - would love your feedback
Built something I wish I'd had when I was going through PE recruiting and figured I'd share it here.
When I was prepping, the good material was all over the place - headhunter info on one forum, paper LBO stuff in some random Google Drive, interview questions in PDFs that got passed around from analyst to analyst. Spent more time tracking things down than actually studying.
Called it PEPath. Google it, first result.
The blog has a handful of free guides that I think people here would get value out of even if you don't care about the rest:
- What on-cycle actually looks like timeline-wise
- Breakdown of the headhunters and how to handle the first call
- Paper LBO walkthroughs
- Interview question bank with model answers
- IB to PE jump playbook
All free to read, don't need to sign up for anything.
Also just launched an iOS app with the full toolkit - question bank, flashcards, paper LBO practice, headhunter CRM, pipeline tracker. Free tier covers most of it. Search PEPath on the App Store, Finance category.
Mainly posting because I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people actually running the gauntlet right now or who've been through it. What's missing, what's off, what you wish someone had told you when you were prepping.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, your initiative with PEPath sounds like a valuable resource for those navigating the often chaotic private equity recruiting process. Here's some feedback and considerations:
Centralized Resources: The idea of consolidating headhunter info, paper LBOs, and interview questions into one platform is a game-changer. Many WSO threads highlight the frustration of scattered resources, so this addresses a real pain point.
Free Guides: Offering free content like the on-cycle timeline, headhunter breakdowns, and paper LBO walkthroughs aligns well with what candidates often seek. These are frequently discussed topics in WSO forums, and having them in one place is a strong value proposition.
Interview Question Bank: A model answer bank is particularly useful. WSO users often emphasize the importance of preparing for both technical and behavioral questions, so this feature could be a standout.
iOS App Features: The inclusion of flashcards, a headhunter CRM, and a pipeline tracker is innovative. These tools could streamline the process for candidates juggling multiple applications and interviews. However, ensure the app is user-friendly and intuitive, as clunky interfaces can deter users.
Feedback Loop: Actively seeking feedback from users is a smart move. WSO threads often stress the importance of tailoring resources to real-world needs, so incorporating user suggestions will keep your platform relevant.
What Could Be Missing:
Overall, PEPath seems like a well-thought-out platform that addresses many of the challenges highlighted in WSO discussions. If you can maintain high-quality content and continuously adapt to user needs, it has the potential to become a go-to resource for PE candidates.
