Summer 2024 MM PE Associate Recruiting Status

Hi all - anyone able to shed some color on what the market looks like for summer 2024 associate positions (for folks coming out of banking)?

Didn't do on-cycle when I started as a first-year back in August 2022 and am wondering how bad the outlook really is now.

There have been some opportunities / process for summer 2024 but not a ton (and even fewer actually attractive seats). Do I need to consider doing a third year? For context I'm in an industry group at a mid/top (but not elite) EB. Starting to get more and more worried that I will be screwed in terms of breaking into the buyside with every passing day. Would appreciate any thoughts / reality check here.

Bit of a naive question, but what do you mean by going all in on recruiting? Aside from keeping in close contact with headhunters and actively replying to opportunities, is networking with funds a viable option (just given how many funds are out there and it being difficult to tell from the outside who is still recruiting)? Appreciate your help.
