This career path unrealistic?

3 years of consulting (Bain/McK) --> B-school --> 1 year of IBD --> PE?

I wouldn't mind replacing 2 years of IBD with 2 years of consulting. Is it much more difficult for IBD associates to break into PE than it is for IBD analysts, even with 3 years of consulting experience?

You'd probably be better off with 3 years consulting --> 2 years PE --> MBA --> PE.

Takes a little longer but it is a lot less risky. It also avoids the post-MBA IBD trap.
