Damn - that's tough. I would have imagined the idea would be you are foregoing an A2A bonus when you choose PE over staying within banking.
Depends on firm. Some firms will true you up for the amount of bonus foregone, but usually paid out at end of year and not as signing
Fund POV is that you could always just stay at your bank.

I don't think that's right, especially if you're moving cities.. You don't have to be a prick about it, but you also don't have to be a doormat either. Tactfully explain your situation and hop on the phone / meet in person with HR if possible (easier to say no over email). Like most things in life, you have to fight for what you want
