Why Do People Flock to Buyouts PE Shops?

I really want to know why.

Seems to me that Growth Equity might be more interesting but every analyst I speak to wants to go to buyout shops and I'm really not sure why.

Can someone explain me what's so attractive in buyouts? Could it possibly be the notion of a "Buyout" seeming more sexy in nature?

It generally pays the best, it’s great training, having UMM/MF or brand name MM on your resume opens lots of doors including bschool placement. That said I hate it and can’t wait to leave but it was a social contract with my firm where they give me those three things and in return us Associates let them grind us into dust. That’s it, that’s the whole thing, this job is accounting and project management and sales, nobody actually finds those things sexy when it comes to the drudgery of day to day work

What kinds of doors. I feel like that’s a cop out for having no confidence to actually choose something and being able to go with it so you do whatever feels like isn’t actually making a decision or specializing

Would it more accurately just not close as many doors
