2025 SA recruiting help

I'm currently working my second internship in RE and have no clue what trajectory to go in or what companies to apply to for 2025 SA (Especially considering non-target). Anyone have good suggestions and know when recruiting starts? Much appreciated.

Recruiting Timeline:

  • Investment Banking:

    • Bulge Bracket and Elite Boutique Banks: Typically start recruiting as early as February/March of the year before the internship (e.g., February/March 2024 for 2025 SA positions).
    • Middle Market Banks: May start a bit later, around April/May 2024.
  • Consulting:

    • Top Firms: Recruiting usually begins in the fall of the year before the internship (e.g., September/October 2024 for 2025 SA positions).
  • Private Equity and Venture Capital:

    • Less Structured: Timelines can vary, but many firms start looking for candidates around the same time as IB, or slightly later.
  • Hedge Funds:

    • Varied Timelines: Some may start as early as IB, while others may recruit closer to the internship start date.

Tips for Non-Target Students:

  1. Networking:

    • Start reaching out to alumni and professionals in your desired industry as early as possible.
    • Attend industry conferences, webinars, and networking events.
  2. Resume and Cover Letter:

    • Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight relevant experiences and skills.
    • Emphasize any finance-related coursework, internships, and extracurricular activities.
  3. Online Applications:

    • Regularly check company websites and job boards for application openings.
    • Apply as soon as applications open to increase your chances.
  4. Interview Preparation:

    • Practice technical and behavioral interview questions.
    • Utilize resources like WSO guides, mock interviews, and study groups.
  5. Leverage Resources:
