AI Underwriting Tools?

Hey, I've seen a lot of buzz in the marketplace for "AI underwriting tools".

Curious if you guys have used any in your roles for acquisitions or asset mgmt.

Currently developing a solution where it extracts texts and financials from OM, rent roll, T-12 and puts it into a rudimentary pro forma. Eventually it'll be able to create aa CIM based on that. Also have a "deal view" going on where you're able to view all of the deals you've uploaded and specifics including submarket data, crime data, synthesize docs (property inspections, loan docs, insurance docs) etc and it'll give you some compliance insights too.

Currently beta testing it with an institutional GP.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, AI and machine learning are indeed making significant strides in the finance industry, including underwriting and acquisitions. Here are some key points:

  1. AI in Underwriting and Acquisitions:

    • AI tools are being used to ingest large amounts of structured and unstructured data, producing standardized reports quickly.
    • These tools can automate approximately 50% of underwriting functions, with continuous improvements over time.
  2. Current Applications:

    • AI solutions are being implemented in portfolio companies to enhance market monitoring, sales optimization, computer vision, automation, and operational efficiency.
    • These solutions are aimed at increasing the exit valuations of investments.
  3. Development and Beta Testing:

    • The development of AI tools that extract text and financial data from Offering Memorandums (OM), rent rolls, and T-12 statements to create pro formas is underway.
    • Advanced features include creating Confidential Information Memorandums (CIMs) and providing a comprehensive "deal view" with submarket data, crime data, and compliance insights.
    • These tools are currently being beta tested with institutional General Partners (GPs).
