All-in Comp for 2nd Year Acquisitions Analyst?
I finished my first year at an elite investment sales shop in NYC in July (think CBRE, Eastdil, Cushman, JLL).
I have several interviews scheduled for acquisitions and asset management roles at middle market REPE shops and operators. Does anyone know what to expect for all-in comp at analyst level or associate?
I would join as a senior analyst with a path to associate by end of year one.
In the same position as you. Don’t have insight to share, but would love to hear how you are landing these interviews.
Ask in the interview. RE comp can be all over the map.
I would say $180k to $200k all-in would be a reasonable ask for NYC. Base would likely be low six figs and the rest in bonus.
That being said, feel like the job market for real estate is much worse than it was a couple of months ago so who knows.
This is way too high for an analyst at a “MM” fund. These are MF numbers
Don’t agree, I’m not at a MF (I’d say it’s UMM or MM? But I’m not at a BX, KKR, or Apollo.) and we pay our first years almost that much. I’d say $150k all-in is a good target with $180k to $200k being the ask. Any lower and you’re struggling to get by in the city.
Again the job market and economy are much worse than they were a few months ago so it’s hard to say. I wouldn’t die on this hill.
I mean i made $170k this year as a second year production analyst in Multifamily lending
As a data point i was quoted $250ish all in as a second year associate at an NYC REPE shop. I will agree with the other comments here that the job market definitely isn't what it used to be
Why do people describe investment sales as elite? Kind of an oxymoron
They need to feel accomplished somehow right?
To say Eastdil without saying it is my guess.
Probably less than what you would make sticking at your shop for another year.
Going into 3rd year acquistions/dev, moved to another shop a month ago:
Base 180
Target bonus 70
Some profit share
Probably on the higher end, i think 150 + 40-60ish is a good spot
That base is huge, mind sharing geography and firm. If you don’t want to share the firm maybe give a few similar names or general profile
NYC …. Yes base was above expectations for sure.
Curious what market you’re in and whether this is a REPE or owner/operator dev shop?
