Any advice about job hunting for junior level Real Estate analyst?
I had a bachelor degree of urban planning from an Ivy school and started out re career after the graduation. The company I worked for was a newly established repe firm one hour from NYC and the owner is now planning to sell it. Why did I know it? On my first year anniversary, The owner asked me to do the business valuation for him and my only 'prize' is to know I'm going to be unemployed soon... Alright, so I started looking for opportunities in NYC and other metropolitan areas. However, I didn't get any response from HRs when I saw the job specs fit my skill set, and I always followed the application process and never forgot to send a thank-you note and stuff.
Does anyone have any tips/experience for getting a re analyst job outside campus? I saw a discussion elsewhere saying you can email the head of hr directly so their team will respond you in a timely manner. Wonder if this is true.... it sounds a bit annoying to me.

Calling will be more effective than emailing. I always do a call in the morning with an email follow up the next day if no response. If you can use references, like "XYZ told me to give you a call," you will have a lot more success.
Join ULI.
Use the member database.
Cold email executives, not HR.
Ask to talk about their company.
At the end of that convo, ask if they anticipate having hiring needs in the near future.
When you finally find one that says yes, crush the interview.

Have you had a CRE Professional review your resume? Make sure it highlights relevant important information to the industry-focus on the property types you have worked on, $ volume, # transactions, highlight excel/modeling skills, Argus/DCF experience. Maybe update your Linkedin to highlight these items as well. Since posting ^^, and this one isn't very scientific, but I more than likely received an interview with Cushman & Wakefield in NY by having a UK connection.
