Asking about different position during interview - how to approach?

To preface: I recently got in touch with a neighbor/family friend who is a top-level executive of a large commercial bank with a division that does middle market mortgage lending. She was very friendly and at the end of our conversation told me to send her an e-mail with the job openings that I'm interested in to see what she could do. The two positions I mentioned to her were an opening for an analyst on their originations team (in NY) and one for a credit analyst (here in DC). They both ask for 1-2 years experience (I have less than that). It seems that she forwarded my resume to HR and they reached out to me and set up an interview for the credit analyst position.

I would like to see if I can manage to land an interview for the originations team as well. I'd prefer to be working with clients on the front-end of deals and I think my experience suits that position better. That position emphasizes cash flow modeling, which I've done from a development standpoint, whereas the credit analyst position emphasizes reading financial statements, which I've never done in a professional setting. Based on the profiles of people on the originations team, I think I should be a competitive candidate for that role as well.

The HR rep I'm interviewing is the lead recruiter for both positions. Thing is, I'm hesitant to make a faux pas by mentioning that I'd prefer that position during the interview. I don't want to make it seem like I have no interest in the credit analyst role. How do you guys think I should approach this?
