Rockpoint & Rockwood are both in SF and high on the PERE AUM list. Farallon in SF is technically a hedge fund but also does quite a bit of real estate investing.

It seems like a lot of the bigger MF PERE shops are based in LA...is there a reason why? Also, did most of these shops have SF offices in the past and then recently move to LA, given how SF is going through tough times (LA is as well but SF harder?)? Just weird since bigger corporate PE shops in SF. I get it that there's more tech opportunities there but still strange.
