CRE Acquisition Interview Advice (0 Experience)
Hi everyone! I'm a noob to CRE acquisitions (1 year out of college, 1 year exp paralegal in biglaw, 0 financial background, ivy) and I was wondering if someone could give me some guidance on what I should prepare for a CRE acquisitions interview?
I've looked around on wso and have a general sense that I should know investment metrics (cap rates, irr, npv, etc) as well as some basics to excel, but was wondering if someone could make an outline or point me to an outline of content to prepare for an interview (especially considering my non-finance background). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
also given that CRE is kind of in a turbulent time, if someone could give me insight into how that may affect recruiting I'd also really appreciate that!
What kind of firm, where? Are you meeting people for the first round?
Is this an acquisitions role where you're cold calling?
currently, I'm sending in applications to any firm that's recruiting for acquisitions (brokerages/investment firms etc). This would be for a first-year, and first/second/final interviews.
So is this not a specific role/firm you're interviewing with?
I don’t have an interview. I’m just curious what I should generally know heading into any acquisitions interview.
Be prepared for possible technical questions. For an analyst, it'll be pretty simple. Probably more important to show how you think vs getting the answer exactly right.
Show that you're willing to do the work and learn. Don't feel like you need to kiss ass or show off.
