Engineer needs advice on how to switch to RE acquisition role

Happy Friday, Friends,

I am an engineer with about eleven years of experience working on the engineering of different types of buildings. I want to switch to Real Easte development field, ideally, an entry level acquisition role since I like travel for work. I thought my engineering experience could be helpful since I know the building structures and construction, which can help me evaluate the condition and valuation of the property. In the past month, I send out about one hundred resumes, get a dozen of rejections and no response for the rest. So I am here ask for your kind insights and advices.

I am trying to figure out why my effort is not successful so far. Potential reasons, 1. I am too old for such a switch. 2. Not sending out enough resumes or trying for long enough. 3. The job market is not good, or other reasons or combination of factors? The more important question is what I should do to improve my chance. Thank you for the kind advice and have a nice weekend!
