FINAL ROUND HELP
Hi everyone - have a final round interview for REPE and am looking for suggestions on good thought provoking questions to ask at the end of the interview. I am assuming the chats will be MDs so want to keep it conversational but also show that I have put thought into the questions. Thank you!
Ask about his background and experience, can uncover interesting deals and stories that way. Why he joined current firm.
Where he sees your team long term and what they will focus on, ie focusing on xyz asset classes/strategy now will that change? Maybe evolution of firm strategy as he's worked there to get an idea on the history.
Not “thought provoking” but will leave a positive impression:
“I’m someone who likes to hit the ground running, how could I prepare now to be as impactful as possible if I were to start here?” —> they care about people who can immediately justify their salary, it’s a better ROI.
“What have been some traits or things you’ve noticed about individuals who have excelled here?” —> highlights you care about success and demonstrates you’re willing to learn and heed the tune of others who have demonstrated that success.
The first question is good, but maybe don't phrase it exactly that way. You sound like a hardo saying you like to hit the ground running lol, maybe say you want to come in and help the team immediately.
Good point! CRE Shervin's response below is a great edit that I would recommend using.
Edited:
how could I prepare now to be as impactful as possible if I were to start here?
“What does success look like on the job 3,6, and 12 months into the role"
Piggybacking off of this, timeline is a great way to counter any concerns about being a job hopper.
Asking because I may be in the same position at the same firm - is this a Canadian-based firm?
This for Oxford Properties or for Quadreal? For Oxford, I know they had two roles open in their NYC office.
Yes, one of the firms you listed
Assuming this would be quadreal then? Just asking as I wanted to know if they kicked off any processes for the roles for Oxford.
Friendly recommendation to listen to/look for context clues that give indications of one’s boundaries.
OP clearly said “one of those two” - and forewent giving specifics. I’d advise not to brashly push people on information they clearly are trying to keep to keep to themselves.
