FT Hiring for Real Estate
Currently in my undergrad (Canadian student) right now, graduating spring of next year. I’ve completed couple internships and have an idea of the hiring timeline for students, but I’m not as informed on how FT works in real estate.
Hoping to plan ahead for FT recruiting next year. I’m not sure if RE firms have a structured recruiting cycle like there is for finance, or if opportunities just pop up every now and then. For those with experience, around when did you start applying/interviewing in real estate in relation to your graduation date?
I’m mostly interested in acquisitions roles, open to REPEs, developers, pension funds, etc. Most likely in Canada as I hear it’s hard to move countries straight out of undergrad for domestic students. Would appreciate any insight, thanks!
U.S data point but received my offer in October of final year of school
For most shops hiring is very much irregular and on a "as needed basis". Especially at the entry level, people are shifting roles and companies quite frequently and due to the lean nature of most teams, it wouldn't make sense to have a regular hiring schedule. I think larger firms like Prudential's RE division may have some cycled recruiting similar to IB but at least for the jobs I've worked in industry it was pretty irregular.
