Goldman RMD Analyst

I am having my 1st round of interview, which will be two phone interviews, with Goldman Sachs for an analyst position under Real Estate Management Division.

I saw there were threads from 2014 and 2015 talking about the interview process. But did anyone recently (within a year) interviewed with them? The HR told me that it would be a technical interview and they will also ask me some Excel questions.

Please share your experience or any information that you have on this position.

Thanks!!!!!

Interviewed with them but in London. Not too technical but you for sure have to have an idea about what you will be doing there. Since the unit is more geared towards Asset Management vs. Acquisitions I am not too sure whether there will be an excel test for you. They did ask quit a few "market knowledge" questions. Different asset classes and their risk profile etc.

Anyone know what compensation is like for this role in Dallas? Glassdoor and the others aren't much help. Also what kind of hours do they pull?

Hours are very group dependent in Dallas, whereas in London, it's relatively similar.

Dallas has far more "silo'd" teams as well. You can be put into something as specific as residential mortgage pricing, whereas in London, you do soup-to-nuts on asset class coverage (Asset Management). The London group is substantially smaller than the Dallas group, so it's more a function of headcount and portfolio AUM.

Correct my if I'm wrong, but I believe the mortgage pricing team in Dallas works until around 8-9:30pm, so give or take 1hr for the other teams.

In terms of the interview, I'd probably recommend understanding: -Cap rates -Valuation methodologies -Verbalize a property operating statement / pro-forma -Market knowledge and GS deals -Various asset classes -Why real estate / Why GS -All the rates involved in real estate at the micro and macro level -Debt Amortization Table (Period / Beginning Balance / Payment (PMT) / Interest Payment / Principal Payment / Ending Balance) -DSCR/ICR/LTV/Debt Yield/CoC/IRR/PMT, etc. -Specific excel functions that are widely used (Index/Match/Match, SumIf(s), If/And/Or, If/Or/And, etc.)
