How easy is the transition to REPE from the top Devs

Hi All, currently at a Hines/Tishman/TCC type firm. Not looking to leave yet, but curious what my options are down the line. For someone working in Development & Investments at one of the Mega devs, what type of options in REPE are available if you decide to make the switch?

Thanks for the help.

More analogous to a senior analyst, for what it's worth.  Our titles are effectively shifted up 1 from elsewhere.  Our deal teams are pretty much 100% focused on the finance / deal side of things, and leave the construction aspect to the dev managers.

Analyst (very few of these ) -> Associate (1-4 YOE roughly, not many at this level) -> Senior Associate (post-MBA, most people enter the firm here) -> VP -> SVP -> Principal -> MD -> Sr MD -> Executive team / C-suite

In that case, I would think you’d have an easier time transitioning.

speaking from prior experiences (I was in dev and then did a stints elsewhere before acquisitions), it’s going to be easier to transition to a friendly LP that you’ve worked with than not. The switch probably hinges on what kind of fund you’re targeting. We view risk a bit differently than GPs but dev experience is usually coveted.
