How to find Internships? (Financial Analyst)

I am starting my first year in college and I want to find financial analyst internships. But looking at linkedin (and other apps) there are pretty much no listings.

Where do I find internships besides going to my college job fair?

linkedin is the greatest tool ever if used correctly as a college student. your first priority is to be very specific on what companies you follow and industry that makes up the people you follow. as well as likes. your feed will start to curate with jobs/internships that are specific to what you want to do. also go and search the best companies that you’d want to work for and see if their analysts were hired as previous year interns. This is the best way to recruit for full time and you can find a lot of strong firms that aren’t known for having giant intern classes. If they won’t take you as an intern, try to find the people who landed the best/closest opportunity to where you’d want to be and see what companies they interned at prior to landing their junior year internship. If their resume/experience was able to land them the job it’s prob good enough for you too. another thing would be to proactively set linkedin alerts for job postings with the word “intern.” First just do quick filter searches for employees at ex. swift real estate partners, and if there’s any interns - either reach out to them and ask about their experience or set an alert on the company site for whenever they start recruiting for internships.

delete social media and make linkedin your new instagram. super quickly you’ll be able to figure out all the companies and jobs people have in the field/industry you want to be in. when people say it’s okay if you don’t know what you want to do, it’s honestly none sense in todays day n age. the job market is super competitive and the college student who stack their internships and can land better and better gigs prior to graduation will be light years ahead and unlock a completely new level of opportunities. I didn’t use linkedin prior to my senior yr and screwed up big time.

Handshake, linkedin networking, networking student programs like (SEO, Project Destined, etc.) are also great avenues as a freshman.

Get it and Good luck

A lot of firms in the US are hesitant to hire freshman and even some sophomores because it takes a lot of energy to bring kids in and then risk having them leave, so you will need to be persistent. With that being said, find the companies you think you would wanna work at, whether it is local companies or more national firms. Network with as many people as you can and make a good impression. If you were to just submit a resume as a freshman its likely going to get turned down, but networking with employees can greatly increase your odds of someone vouching for you or moving your resume to the top of the stack.
