Is GIS valued for REITs, REPEs, Brokerage, Development, etc.?

Of course, I'm going to take ARGUS. However, my school offers courses in Geography Information Systems. Would knowledge of that look good on a resume for real estate companies?

EDIT: How about compared to SQL?

Thanks!

SQL and GIS would be analysis on steroids. It's not going to hurt your chances but I would think it's not going to (overly) help them either. I did a round of interviews last year while studying GIS and not one interviewer had a breeze at what it was.

Should you study them? Personally I'd say yes, 100% go for it. Who knows, in the future if RE ever turns this direction it would be great to know the opportunities and limitations of each. They are educations in themselves so be prepared to have to put in considerable amount of time, but at this stage in your career your time is better spent elsewhere though.

Great insight, thank you. Based on this, I'm assuming in addition to Finance courses, more generalized urban studies courses would be better than fintech courses? What I mean by FinTech is like python and advance technology used in Finance (not Excel, ARGUS, etc.)
