Looking for place to start (cornell grad, no RE experience)

I recently graduated from Cornell hotel school and just finished a masters program to keep playing my sport for another year. I have no RE experience other than coursework in undergrad, but really want to work in acquisitions. Doing a RE financial modeling course but have no direct exposure. I am open to moving nearly anywhere in the US. Ideally Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, or Charlotte. Honestly anywhere but NY. Happy to share my resume or chat, looking for any advice

Do you have a connection to any of those cities and what is your sport? Could help you with the right place.

...but is it REPE?

No personal connections honestly, always been interested in other cities and my grad school is near ATL/CLT.  I played football as well. Open to anywhere

UNC/Clemson/GT?

Anyhow, brokerage shops love athletes and the southeast loves football. Definitely hit up relevant PERE 100 and other firms in your target cities, but doing 2-3 years at CBRE or JLL to get a name on your resume wouldn't hurt as a backup.

Your best bet with the broker shops is to network rather than throwing your resume (which sounds like lacks in experience) at applications. Reach out to mid level folks on LinkedIn and ask for calls to pick their brain for guidance on breaking in / learning about the industry. If they like you, then there may be a team they know of (if not theirs) that needs someone and haven’t posted an opening yet. If you can determine the ‘market leader’ then that’d be a good person to try and get ahold of. Generally a nice person who is in a corporate role charged with driving revenue, bringing on new talent, and playing a role in managing the support staffing of teams for their market/region.
