Moving from Big 4 Consulting to a transactions/deals role

Hi all, I'm currently a 2nd year associate at a Big 4 in the Real Estate/Finance Advisory group. I have some good resume experience working on big clients (Goldman Sachs, KKR, Blackrock, etc.) but am looking to move away from the consulting side of the Real Estate business to a more transactional role where I can work on deals.

For context the work we do is a mix of valuations, market research analyses, and direct consulting on financial practices and/or management.

No preference between the Debt or Equity side. Curious if anyone has had any success moving to either a Real Estate Investments or Capital markets team and if it wasn't a direct path what did you do to get there? (Lateral to a brokerage first, MBA program, etc.)

I'm willing to take a pay cut or move down from an associate level role to an analyst role if it's the right opportunity. Ultimate goal is to see deals and get experienced enough to one day lead them.

Appreciate any and all thoughts.
