Hey Guys,
I'm a second year analyst in Asset Management. I wanted to share a page designated only for people who are currently in or were in Asset Management at some point to share their compensation history for the sake of learning more about what market pay is in various markets as well as how your compensation has changed over the years in this role.
I feel like many comp trackers vary way too much in roles, so I wanted to really narrow it down only to asset management personnel.
This would really benefit us when negotiating future bumps in pay in the future. For starters here is where I'm at.
Current Position: Analyst Firm Type: Private Equity (other choices --> REIT, Family Office, etc.) Market: National

Comp: Year 1 Analyst: - Salary: $65k - Bonus: 5% - 10% Year 2 Analyst: - Salary $75k - Bonus: 10% - 20%
Lastly, anyone know what asset management personnel make at the VP, Director, or other top seniority level?
I recently transitioned into REPE from development at a GP. Focusing mainly on AM of distressed/value-add assets with some acquisitions work here and there. Had to be brought on as an "experienced" analyst but have had strong performance so expecting a bump to Associate 1 any day now.

Current Position: VP Firm Type: REPE Fund Market: Midwest Fund Size: $2B + AUM Typical Hours per Week: 45-50 Comp: - Salary: $130k - Bonus: 40% - Carried Interest in each of firm’s fully discretionary funds + JV’s. On average this typically translates to an additional $125-150k in comp per year (obviously subject to deal performance)
Very nice considering the hours and assuming your Midwest location provides reasonable COL. How many years of experience do you have and how long have you been at the VP level?

What was your comp progression like? And did you start at the same firm or worked elsewhere prior?
3 years in advisory + 2 in REPE AM. The comp jump to REPE was pretty significant relative to what i was making in advisory. In all honesty, its a pretty 'cushy' gig for the time being but I'm sure the deal guys my level are crushing it.
How did you make the jump to RE? I’m at a B4 now thinking about going into RE.
What is a B4? I was at in a RE advisory role for 3 yrs out of UG and had some of the basic skills to make the transition to REPE. If i had stayed another 2-3 years after I would likely be going for an MBA/MSRE.
Big 4 accounting firms - Deloitte/PwC/EY/KPMG.

Interviewed for a Director-level AM role in the multifamily space recently. Sunbelt market (Texas, Florida, Georgia preferred). Comp discussions were about $150k-$160k with all-in comp around $205k-$220k.
