RE Development

Hey, I would like to get some guidance from y'all on how to break into the RE Development world. It has always been my dream to do so, but I have never really had any mentor or source to direct me down the correct path. I am currently about to start my first job out of undergrad at an IB doing banking, but I am truly not at all excited to be working there and fear I was misguided into pursuing that path.   Please let me know your thoughts on what the best way to make this switch would be! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Put your two years in, and instead of PE recruiting  or whatever your classmates are doing, reach out to Hines, Tishman Speyer, Trammell Crow Company, Related, etc. about your interest in development.

Those more corporate firms are increasingly looking for candidates with more of a traditional Wall Street background. As one told me a few years back, “we hire based on background then teach them the real estate.”
