Real estate operator to investment role

Hi, I’m currently a senior analyst at a real estate residential operator. We work in an up and coming sector within residential RE. My job is the operator side of the acquisitions (we don’t invest ourselves). I’ve played a fair role as the sole analyst in our start up over the past 16 months. Before this I had an unrelated consulting role for a year.

I want to move into an investment focused role next, no strict timelines but I want to aim to move into an associate position. I’m good at modelling and do pick up things quickly. I would say I’ve done well in my role thus far, and am extremely comfortable with in depth market research across the living sector and modelling operationally across the UK and Europe in any country.

Does anyone have any advice on making the move not only up in rank but also across to a more investment focused role? I want to prepare as much as I can now before I’m truly really to move. Many thanks!
