Schroders Real Estate

Does anyone have any info on Schroders real estate group? They have a graduate programme in the UK and would love to get more info regarding the firm, comp, prestige, hours, investment style in real estate, etc. Would also love info on the graduate programme for real estate as well. Thanks!

Schroders is a very traditional UK institutional asset manager. In terms of prestige it is a middle-market firm similar to LGIM, M&G and Aberdeen Standard etc. They have an established Real Estate platform with their investment style primarily being Core, Core+ investments. You would not find them doing much value-add/opportunistic investments. Hence the deals you will be working on are not the most complex but stable investments. Compensation wise, analysts usually start off on £40K (GBP) with a bonus of 10-20%. The structure with Schroders is a bit odd in the sense there is no traditional Analyst, Associate, VP, Director structure but rather people remain Analysts but their pay is reviewed and upgraded on a yearly basis. The next step after Analyst would be to become a fund manger after a number of years. In terms of hours, UK AM's like Schroders are relaxed, with employees working 8:00/9:00-18:00/19:00 with a lot of flexibility with regards to holidays and working from home.

Schroders real estate teams have a duel role of Acquisitions and Asset Management, hence graduates will be exposed to a wider range of activities and acquire a broader skill set. For Real Estate graduates they prefer analysts to go down the CFA route rather than get a RICS qualification. The team is involved in real estate deals across the UK and Europe in multiple sectors (industrial, office etc.)
