It’s people like you that consistently look past intelligent performers for those who show up at 7:30 am. My best team members arrive late and leave early if they can... but they never let me down.

Have you considered judging your subordinates on their work product and ability to prioritize as opposed to “taking note” if they are “abiding by your schedule”?

Analyst in D/E capital markets in Brokerage in a Target Market

Very light (rare) - More recently deal flow has been a little lighter, most of my work has been delegated to closings. Get in the office from 8:00-830am and leave around 6:15-7:30pm

Normal week - Get in the office from 8:00-830am and leave around 7:00-8:30pm

Crazy busy week (more often than not) - All of sudden, a ton of deals that need to go out to market asap, something I've never worked on and need to learn, etc. Get in the office from 7:45-8:15am and leave around 8:45-11:00pm+. These months/weeks suck, but they aren't the norm, which makes it not awful.

Seems normal depending on the team. As a comparison in a Tier 1 market a top debt team analyst I know said they're working 8-7 in the office, going home to eat dinner and working until midnight every night during the week. Other top brokerages I've heard 9-midnight Monday to Friday. These are at a #1/2 debt team and top 5 brokerage in terms of volume.

Depends on firm, compensation structure, and how generous the MDs on the deal are. Lots of firms tip out on per deal closed as well as performance based bonus annually. I've heard of analysts in miami offices over the past 2 years making up to 200k because of how hot the market was. I'd say top performing analysts in a top/hot market on a top team can clear about 150k.

CRE banking. 6 AM - 3 or 4 PM. I work sorta east coast hours being in the west coast and this is by choice. So 45-50 hrs. I have peers in the west coast in the same team who start at 9 AM but I prefer starting early and knocking out a lot of work early in the morning so that my afternoons and evenings are super chill. For a $150K-$200K+ total comp, I cannot complain too much. Nice work life balance and overall decent quality of life.
