When do the Modeling Test Stop

This goes out to my contemporaries and seniors.  When do employers stop giving modeling tests, is it at the VP level, director?  I've had senior associate interview with modeling and associate roles with 5-8 year experience with modeling tests.

I know what I know, I'm just tired of proving this.

I recently interviewed for an acquisitions associate role and was told there would be a modeling test. The day of the interview, they decided to nix the test. I’m not sure if the reason was my prior experience or the conversation they had with my former employer. I was prepared but it was nice not having to take it. This was for a REPE group with ~$20B in AUM

I also interviewed for an associate role in the RE arm of a traditional PE firm and was told there would be a modeling test, however I decided to bow out of the running for the first opportunity

Note both of these were at 5 years experience so it really is firm dependent

This probably is the most sensible way to do it.  It's not RE, but I came from a very modeling intensive group in IB w/ a lot of transaction experience and was told that there would be a modeling test in every process that I was involved w/.  Only ended up needing to take 1 since the firm that I wanted to land at came through w/ an offer very early, but was happy to cancel the 5+ modeling tests that I had scheduled after 1st/2nd round interviews elsewhere.

Did my test while on vacation, drunk in a hammock during the afternoon and finished an hour early.
