Accountancy -> Prospective trader resume review
Hi all,
I'm trying to make the transition from an auditor to trader and finding it difficult to convince anyone of my quantitative aptitude. I completed a finance and accounting major - but after 2 years at audit, I'm feeling pigeon holed.
I tried to "quantify" my responsibilities and experiences etc, but hope people here can tear it apart. I fear I still sound too much like an accountant.
I thank you and greatly appreciate any feedback in advance

your first sentence is a fragment
i've not heard of many accountants to traders lateral, mostly from accountancy to IB
try networking with the FSI clients of yours.... or get more education from a b school... thats all the advice i have for u
Maybe you could shoot for a MM or some regional bank, or some branch office not necessarily on the Wall Street if you don't mind location.
Your resume is 2 pages long. My guess is that they are not reading past page 1.
Thank guys for your comments, its greatly appreciated!
J15 - yeah its quite rare. Actually it was a MM that commented that when reading my resume, that they thought I wouldn't even have the prerequisite knowledge to attempt their logic/probability tests due to my qualifications.
J15 & zyos - I'm based in Australia - I think our uni system is different to the states, so when you say b school - is this business school? I've been shooting for MM roles, and thinking of trying for a grad for an IB :( . Lateral hire would be preferred, but the job market down here is quite tough atm. Unfortunately here, we only have 4 major banks - so no regional banks etc, but I will take your advice and cast my nets far and wide.
quest & theATL - thank you for the pickups, I'll try and fix it and put it up again for more criticism
Rashzel - may I ask which MM you applied for in OZ?
I do agree you need to fix up your resume. You need to sell youself in a way that shows the firm you have the skills that it takes to be a trader and the passion. Atm your resume doesnt reflect that in the slightest apart from trading options . Expand on this a bit more and stick to 2 pages, no more which is the standard in oz. Good luck.
you should sell yourself on why you should be a trader.. from the way i see, its more of a problem solving skills that you have, rather than quant skills... if you do any personal trades, you should include it..
