Canadian Resume Review
Hi everyone,
I would appreciate all the input you could give me.

- I took out my part-time jobs during school because I thought they'd be a waste of space.
- I think I'm having trouble with focusing my resume.
- Still looking for more firms to apply to (anywhere that speaks English, really) but I think my chances of being hired outside of Canada are slim.
- If anyone knows of any boutique banks or investment management/advisory firms in Toronto, please let me know. I am doing my own research but am always looking for more places to apply.
Put something under your education about your part time job...something to the effect of worked part time to help fund tution payments...
Honestly you have close to no chance of landing ibanking with that caliber resume in Canada. You better network hard and have a great personality.
You can maybe get tiny mid-market shop with that resume. Go to business school and try again.
You could add any extra-curriculars you did in university. Yeah, I'm a Canadian too, it sucks to be Canadian for a career in finance. Good luck on the job hunt!
Some comments:
Best of luck Viktori
Thanks for your replies.
1) I am looking for a smaller shop at the moment.
2) Thanks for the list Ganthor, I found that off the larger thread as well. I was wondering if anyone knew of any smaller ones that might be hiring as I am looking to apply to as many as possible.
3) It is difficult to network with people who are in finance where I am. I'm using my family/international connections at the moment but the chance of finding a place that speaks English is slim.
4) RVM:
- I'm a Chartered Accountant student, is this something I should list on my resume?
- I don't have the CSC but it does not seem useful to get. I was under the impression it is mainly for people who want to sell mutal funds and analysts don't need it to be hired. Am I mistaken? - What kind of computer skills would I put? Per advice on M&I I'm avoiding the "good at Excel" one. - I didn't do Scouts every summer, I did it every year, all the time :) I spent summers working or at school (one summer at LSE)

CA is awesome for IB
CSC is basically only useful because everyone else applying for the same jobs has it - if you dont it makes you seem like you don't "love" finance - whatever that means.
Ands Excel is HUGE in industry. If you know VBA awesome. Recording Macros, good. If you've used in for the CA to model companies definitely say so.
