Chances in AM with my CV?

Hey fellow monkeys,

Could you guys tear apart my CV? I know I used a lot of fillers, but I switched my major my junior year from computer science to economics so I don't have any relevant work experience at all... I got into the game very late! I'm also aware that the format is not very conventional so I'd be interested in what you guys thought. If I get a Master's in Accounting, and a summer internship at a fund, would I have any shot of joining a hedge fund/Asset Management? There are so many more qualified people in the market, especially with all the laid of ibankers, I'm wondering if I even have a reasonable shot... Appreciate any feedback and input, thanks!

  1. In America, we don't put our pictures on CV's. Take it out.

  2. In your Objective, take out the last two sentences. Way too long. The first sentence is good. Usually, these days people aren't big fans of objectives, but in your case with the major switch, I think it's good. Maybe say a quick word about why you changed majors?

  3. Put the personal investing as part of your resume. Include the returns as well. I'd put it either under Experience or Interests.

I think if you format this to be more standard (e.g. no headshot, no description of who you are, no 2nd page) and assuming you took the international equities angle, I can see a good number of AM shops being interested.

This is of course net of the fact that your GPA is somewhat low for UDub, but if you can get an interview I can see a legitimate interest and definitely a lot of attractive traits such as language skills and a demonstrated interest in investing. I'd try not to mention the microcap equities investing though, haha... it doesn't match up too well next to the "Graham-Dodd investing" statement you make right before it.

Best of luck!

FutureBanker09CFA stuff is all a violation, you have to change that.

LOL, it's ridiculously in violation. OP, reread Standard 7-B.

Thanks for clarifying that catch.... I completely and utterly missed that.... (and also as you can tell, have been reading Books 2-6 and saving Ethics for last)
