Closed - Rising Junior
Hey all,
I'm a rising junior (junior starting Fall 2013), and I'm interested in finding an IB internship at a BB bank next summer.
I'd really appreciate criticism on my resume! Be harsh, I'd like to make it as competitive as possible.
Pointers on content, formatting, etc.. anything is much appreciated!
1) X.XX/4.00, not X.XX/4.0 2) Switch start-up and actual work experience in ordering. F500 is more relevant. 3) Minor on same line as Bachelors: use a semicolon 4) Texas Hold'em is cliche. Unless you are really good and can speak of tournaments, etc, you might as well leave it off.
So you are a rising junior? Or rising sophomore.

I have a question about the F500 being more relevant. Since the company I interned at was a tech company, and my work was largely tech related, would that be more relevant in applying for an IB position? At the startup I co-founded, my role was mainly business development and working with clients, so I thought that would be more relevant.

Question about Texas Hold'em on resume: Is it okay to include if you made a bunch of money in high school playing online, or are only tournaments relevant?
I think anything in real industry > personal endeavors and clubs. In my viewpoint, it's just so easy to brush off a college "start-up" as resume filler, while an F500 means you went to work every day, learned things, etc. If your start-up is legit, highlight how you got it there in interviews.
Unless you're a freshman and don't have a lot of stuff to put on your resume, I'd leave off anything related to high school expect SAT or ACT scores. National Merit Semifinalist and National AP Scholar aren't relevant to your university, so why are they listed there? (test scores are the exception here). Some people will say leave them on because they're somewhat prestigious, but I leave that stuff off.
For GPA and SAT, it's fine to just have the numbers and leave off the "/ 4.0" and "/ 2400"
