CV

Hello, I hope you are all well.

Please critique my CV, and give me any feedback or advice. I presume due to my A level results a lot of opportunities will be locked out despite the fact that I have completed a foundation year and I now study at a top 10 uni. I am severely lacking experience and missed out on applying for Spring Weeks in first year because I thought my aforementioned A level results would render them out of reach.

Alas I am currently aiming to find and secure a summer internship for 2024 with either a smaller consulting firm, or a middle market firm. Then next year I would leverage that experience to secure a graduate scheme or an off-cycle at a higher paying / more prestigious firm. Is this a realistic goal? I'm interesting in Consulting, Corporate banking, and FP&A. If possible please do recommend some firms whose programme I could look into!

Thank you!

Interesting A level choices

Other than that looks standard. Nothing exceptional and nothing shite

Also you’re slightly late for SA 24

Most BBs and MMs are done recruiting / late in the process but you might find some openings here and there if you look out for them

I did apply to a bunch starting in September however I haven't had much luck with any BBs or MMs. Hence I am going to apply for programmes with much smaller names just to get that added boost with experience on my CV so that I can try for it next year.

Additional Information section is redundant. Make one header - Skills and Interest. Bilingual (keep it a mystery let them ask you), film making, etc.......Quant Quant Quant ( everything.) Ex: Worked with an automotive client, and constructed a slide deck for the 600mn merger........ remove secondary school (pretty sure nobody really cares where you went to school once your in college). Add honors, coursework case comps anything.

Hey, going to try offer some advice based on what I got when I did my CV.

- I'd say when I first look at your CV your A-Level choices don't exactly scream to me what you'd want to do, so you need to find a way to make a more obvious link between your chosen A-Levels / degree, & your career. The forage experience is good, but it is open to everyone; so something that shows you went out of your way to maybe complete an internship/insight in banking, consulting, etc. would be great to aim for.

- Another thing I'd say (which you realise) is that a lot of candidates are taking Maths, even Further Maths at A-Level now. So you need to make a really obvious point that you're good with Mathematics, maybe you can record some good grades you've gotten in your Mathematic or Statistical modules for example (maybe you have done this already).

- I would also say you need to 100% get more opportunities like insights, or internships under your belt. Having an entrepreneurial spirit is great, but without any structured programmes by any firms on your CV, a recruiter cannot see that you've got the capability to go through any form of structured tests or interviews successfully. Make a point to reword your bullets also, cut them down to 3/4 only (like you have done on the Forage experience) but add some numbers in there so you can "quantify" what your work has produced.

- Final, I would say that EPQ is not really relevant (to my knowledge, they ask for your top 3 A-Levels only). I know you are trying to make your grades look better but it may be better to separate this as a bulletpoint below (especially if relevant - maybe economics/business related).
