Feel free to go hard against my resume

Hi everyone,

I will be applying for SA 2016 in London in September, I think in IBD and therefore would like to hear your opinion on my resume.

Thanks

Needs work, specifically in the experience section. Its good to list highlights from your experience rather than your general job description. For example performed strategic analysis on a software company with $xxMM in revenue in which I identified several targets for purchase. I know its hard to document the value add for intern work--which banks understand--but you can always add a little flair. Also try and define items a little more, for example, rather than "smaller firms" state their size in revenue.

Best Response
  • Use a more standard font, capital letters in this font appear bigger than the rest
  • Remove the 3000+ likes on FB line, it's just silly.
  • Be more specific on relevant coursework: Micro/Macroeconomics is a huge universe of topics
  • Sharpen your grammar and prose; avoid using words like "etc.", makes me think you haven't thought of anything better
  • Get an email that ends with .com (e.g. gmail)
  • Remove section on high school
  • Pointless to put proficient at excel/office. Unless you know programming languages like C++, Java, MATLAB don't put them.
  • Language proficiency: Unless you speak it well, quite pointless putting Russian as a limited language. What about french?
  • Avoid using "back office", it doesn't appear good if you're applying for FO positions

As ssmaclac mentioned, you need to 'bankify' your resume. Hope this helps.
