Internship job titles
Just wondering whether there is a certain etiquette for job titles. Obviously if you work over the summer at a BB the title will always be "Summer Analyst", but if I work in Finance during an other period of time for a few months can I call my internship experience "Spring Analyst" or "Autumn Analyst" or should I be using the word "Intern" instead for other internship experiences?
Can you call a position "Analyst Intern" or does it sound a bit weird?
Bit of a picky question based on preferences, but if there is some etiquette or guidelines for this when you have more leeway to decide for yourself what sounds best I'd be glad to hear your views on this.

Analyst Intern is fine.

I've done Spring/Fall/Summer Analyst.
What about pwm experience? No bs cold calls, experience was portfolio analysis and do some analysis on stocks (the man asked me to help him pick...). Is analyst ok to put on resume?
Spring Analyst, Private Wealth Management and then under it you explain what you did.
If you can reasonably defend what you put, without having to stretch or worry that it gets questioned then you are fine. People generally will know what you mean anyways.
This really is based on preference, but "Analyst Intern" just doesn't sound right and I hate when I see it on resumes. "Analyst" is a noun, not an adjective. I prefer group Intern.

My official title at my internship is simply "Intern". I put Intern "Analyst" as my job title on my resume because I'm essentially doing analytical work with financials and project data. I'm working for an MPO (metropolitan planning organization)
Will this cause problems during background checks?
In short, it depends. I know of a few firms (banks) that will expect the formal title of your position. Background will verify that the stated position was held. Perhaps discuss this point with your firm to see whether you can write analyst on your resume. If not, point out the analytical aspects of your role in your resume.
P.s I think you mean summer/off-cycle analyst rather than intern analyst?
At the company im working for, every intern job title was listed as "Intern - XXXX department". There's no differentiation in job title between the interns doing financial work, or those doing marketing work. So two interns in a department (let's say it's the Public Works Dept.) will be officially listed as " Intern - Public Works Dept.)
I added the analyst part because that's pretty much what it is, financial analyst work.

What is an Investment Banking Analyst Intern? Mind blown lol. Also please don't use your first suggestion. The appropriate title in this case is intern, and then when asked you can speak to the nature of your role there.

Analyst intern is not a thing...you are either an analyst or an intern.
OP, just say intern. You won't get additional credit for saying something like analyst intern and more likely will come off as a bit ridiculous

Quick question. I'm a rising senior, currently interning at a MM (think Lazard, Piper, Jefferies, etc) in a non NY location. It's been a great experience and I've gotten to learn and work on some cool things, but I'm still prepping myself for full time recruitment elsewhere.
This firm where I'm working makes a distinction between intern titles: summer interns vs summer analysts. Interns get paid hourly and are "limited" to 40 hours a week (which doesn't really apply since we just time stamp out and stay til our work is done), whereas summer analysts do the whole NY weeklong training, prorated salaries, deal team staffing, etc.
Going through the interview process, all parties involved believed that this was a summer analyst program. However, upon receiving my offer, the VP informed me that due to some front office technicalities, I would be an "intern" and not an SA.
I'd obviously love to be able to put Summer Analyst on my resume, and normally wouldn't have a lot of hesitation about it except for the fact that there is the clear policy distinction between the two. From what I can tell, my workload hasn't been any different than it would've been if I were an SA. It's something I can speak to in interviews, but I'd be worried about getting called out on it.

literally no one cares unless you are interviewing for FT at the same bank where you interned. Just put summer intern. I'd rather see some resume with that then some kid who tries to spin some title inflation b.s. when we all know he was doing data entry all summer. resume reviews out of undergrad are mainly 30 seconds looking for firm names, major, GPA, extracurrics. the interview is where you'll actually get into the content of what you actually did over the summer.

Except OP stated it was a full year analyst. You wouldn't say "Investment Banking Fall/Spring Analyst" would you?

I too did a full year (more than, actually) internship at a boutique during my regular undergrad. I posted my resume here and was told to use the above. It's an important distinction because YOU ARE NOT FULL TIME. Adding the word "intern" won't hurt your candidacy, in fact, it will probably make your boutique seem less suspicious (because otherwise, they're a weird bank that hires current undergrads for full time).
Also, I'm sure you have a lot to contribute, it's good that we have frequent posters that at least have some experience, but I really think you should reconsider the "Certified User" thing.
